Precious is a 2009 American independent film set on the novel Push and as well modified from the 1996 film Push. In order to deflect disarray and complementary legal struggles the name was converted from Push: Based on the Novel by Sapphire to Precious.

Being and independent film it was first shown at the Sundance Film Festival where it gained the audience award and grand jury prize for best drama. It was proclaimed in February 2009 that Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey would assist the film by seeking to get it promotional support through one of the greatest picture producers international, Lions Gate.
Due to several of the films more graphic content it was placed an "R" rating by the MPAA for pictures including that of child abuse, spicy assault and pervasive terminology. The plot is based on a 16 year old gross and uneducated Precious who lives in the New York City district of Harlem with her diminished family. She is frequently sexually misused by her father and has been impregnated twice by him while she gets endless insult from her out of work mother.
Precious is requested to change schools and hopes to look for an alternate life. She longs to gain a life where people care and love for her. While she is raped by her founder she looks at the ceiling and envisages herself starring in a music video. Prompted by her new teacher she learns to read and write. Shortly after she gives birth to her first child from her beginner and addresses him Abdul.
Subsequently her mother drops Abdul on purpose and proceeds to abuse her, Precious decides to leave her family in search of a greater life for her and her son. Nonetheless her mother eventually gets to tell her that her beginner died from HIV. Precious determines that she is HIV positive but Abdul is not.
